Stella Matutina Lighano seminary belongs to the Catholic Church in the archdiocese of Songea. It was opened in august, 15th 1996 and registered by the government of Tanzania on 10th of January, 1997 as an institution of providing both secondary education and religious formation. The archbishop of Songea is the legal manager of the seminary. The main purpose of the seminary is to prepare the future clergy. The seminary is located in the eastern part of the archdiocese, some 60 kilometres away from Songea municipal where the bishop’s seat is also located.
